Estate wines

Our estate wines form the centrepiece of our winery. The grapes are harvested from our own vineyards and are characterised by incomparable drinking pleasure as well as fine minerality and elegance.
Sauvignon Blanc
Sauvignon Blanc
Dry

The grapes that characterize our Sauvignon Blanc thrive on the sandy gravel soils of our vineyards. They develop their full potential through selective pre-selection by hand and a twelve-hour maceration period. Cool fermentation and maturation on the fine lees give the wine a purist dryness and crisp minerality. The bouquet enchants with notes of gooseberry and elderflower, rounded off with a fine pepper note.

This Sauvignon Blanc is an ode to elegance, where sparkling freshness and subtle finesse meet. The aromas of gooseberry, elderberry and citrus dance harmoniously on the palate and create a taste experience full of life. Fully fermented, this wine develops an impressive aroma and offers an incomparably exciting drinking experience.

Dry

The carefully selected grapes for our dry Riesling come from the picturesque vineyards of Thörnich. The harvested grapes are pressed with the utmost care and made into wine at an optimum temperature of around 17°C. Maturation on the fine lees refines its profile and gives it an additional dimension of complexity.

This wine presents itself as a lively wine by the glass that is appreciated for its versatility – it is the perfect companion for a picnic in the countryside, relaxed evenings on the terrace or balcony and as a refreshing accompaniment to a barbecue party. The bouquet offers a wealth of juicy aromas that are in harmony with an elegant minerality on the palate and emphasize the classic Riesling character.

Rosé

Dry

Our Pinot Noir vines find their home in the picturesque surroundings near the banks of the Moselle, where a unique microclimate helps the vines to grow exceptionally well. After carefully removing the raisins, we allow the grapes to release their aromas in the mash for four hours before they are pressed gently and carefully. Fermentation takes place at an optimal 18 °C in stainless steel tanks, followed by a maturation period on the fine lees, which enriches the wine with an explosion of fruity aromas.

This rosé is a must for every celebration – a synonym for pure joie de vivre. It is lively and fruity in the glass, with a bouquet reminiscent of the sweetness of ripe strawberries and the aroma of wild berries. A wine that promises drinking pleasure and is a delight on any occasion.

Local wine

The local wines represent the middle segment of our winery. The Riesling grapes come from the cooler south-western slopes of Detzem and Thörnich.

Dry

Our exquisite grapes come from the gentle slopes of a cool south-western hillside and develop an exceptional aromatic profile thanks to slow ripening and late harvesting. In the cool environment of our stainless steel tanks, the wine matures with extended yeast storage and gains in complexity. The result is a fragrance experience of wonderfully fresh pineapple that unfolds on the nose. On the palate, the wine is clear and pure, with an invigorating effervescence and rich minerality that reflects its origin and makes the wine a true experience.

Riesling M
Riesling M
Semi-dry

The grapes for our Riesling M come from the sun-drenched slopes of the Detzemer Würzgarten and are carefully harvested by hand. Gentle pressing preserves the essence of the grapes, which are then fermented cool until they reach the perfect point of semi-dry full-bodiedness. The wine is then allowed to develop in peace while it matures for three months on the fine lees and gains character.

The result is a wine that impresses with its youthfulness and freshness – a wine that promises carefree joie de vivre with every glass. The aromas of ripe apple and juicy peach combine to create an uncomplicated yet expressive taste experience. A wine that is fun to drink and brings lightness to any occasion.

Vineyard wines

Our single-vineyard wines thrive in our steepest vineyards, some of which are still planted with very old vines. The harmonious interplay of slate soil, microclimate and the sunlight reflected by the Moselle produces unique wines characterised by minerality and fruity aromas.
Kirschenberg Alte Reben

Dry

The harvest from the single vineyard “Kirschenberg” is a true prime example of the art of viticulture on steep slopes, characterized by the stony slate soils of the Maximiner Klosterlay. This robust terroir gives the wine its characteristic mineral note. Old vines are rooted here which, despite their age, produce small grapes with a remarkable concentration of aromas.

The grapes are carefully harvested by hand, destemmed and, after a well-earned rest on the skins, gently pressed. Fermentation takes place at a moderate 15 °C in stainless steel tanks and ends with a long maturation on the lees, which gives the wine structure and longevity.

The result is a wine with a balanced acidity that seduces the senses with the scent of apricots and cloves, while its powerful body presents a mineral elegance with a subtle saltiness that combines on the palate to echo the slate rock.

Semi-dry

The grapes for our Riesling come from the select “Maximiner Klosterlay” vineyard, which are carefully harvested by hand and carefully destemmed. After a short maceration period and gentle pressing, they find their way into stainless steel barrels, where controlled fermentation takes place. The targeted stopping of fermentation in the semi-dry range produces a Riesling of wonderful balance.

This wine seduces with its harmonious acidity and natural, light sweetness, which combine with the pronounced minerality to create a real drinking experience. The olfactory palette ranges from juicy apricot to spicy clove, while the powerful body and fine mineral salinity, reminiscent of the slate rock of the Klosterlay, caress the palate. A wine that promises pure joie de vivre with every sip.

Thörnicher Ritsch
Thörnicher Ritsch
Sweet

The Thörnicher Ritsch vineyard is one of the crown jewels of the Moselle, famous for its mineral soils and the remarkably late ripening of the grapes. It owes this prestige not least to its status as one of the world’s most exquisite Riesling vineyards. Our new plantings from 2019 are rooted deep in history, directly from Maria’s family tradition, and thrive on an extremely steep slope. There, the high proportion of slate combined with intense sunshine provides ideal conditions for cultivating Mosel Rieslings of exceptional quality.

The combination of manual care and the terroir makes our Riesling a true natural wonder that impresses with its robust minerality and distinctive herbal aromas. These aromas, embedded in a natural fruit sweetness, unfold year after year to delight us with a palette of surprising and captivating flavors.

Initially, the wine may seem restrained, but it soon unleashes a potpourri of aromas: ripe peaches and exotic fruits, underscored by a subtle herbal spice and a graceful salty note. This Riesling is an adventure for the senses that becomes a journey of discovery with every tasting.

Fingerprint

You can go on a search for clues with Matthias in the "Fingerprint" line. Spontaneous fermentation ends after a few weeks in each wine in this line, giving it a unique flavor. These wines are the result of natural fermentation and reflect the terroir character of the steep slopes in a special way.
Hinkellay
Hinkellay
Dry

The grapes for this wine are carefully harvested and selected by hand, and we wait until they are fully ripe before harvesting them. This meticulous approach gives our wine its unique character.

After an extended maceration period, the grapes are gently pressed and taken to our old cellar, where fermentation takes place spontaneously, partly in stainless steel barrels. The natural yeasts already present on the grapes and in the cellar environment contribute to this natural process by converting the sugar into alcohol.

The unique combination of the high slate content in the soil and the cool south-western exposure of the Hinkellay gives our wine a distinctive, herbal and spicy note. The result is a wine of incomparable character and quality.

Maria’s absolute favorite wine is a real pearl. The small, very ripe berries come from vines over 50 years old from the steepest slate site on the Maximiner Klosterlay. These grapes give the wine dense, deep and exotic fruit aromas with a hint of saltiness. They are harvested by hand with the utmost care and then macerated. The wine is matured spontaneously in wooden barrels using traditional methods. Noble sweet

This Trockenbeerenauslese is undoubtedly an extraordinary gift from nature. The hand-picked grapes were harvested extremely late, which caused them to shrivel under the intense sunlight and become like raisins. These precious berries were harvested by hand in an elaborate process and gently pressed on a small wooden press. A long fermentation process resulted in a wine of remarkable concentration, with a high natural sweetness and brilliant acidity.

This wine has a deep golden color and exudes an intense aroma of honey, raisins and exotic spices. Its taste is sweet, but perfectly balanced by its fine acidity.
